Better than nature is an exploration in artificial settings and the speculative objects inhabiting them. It is about the inherent (un)balance between humans and natural materials, and how we interact with processed versions of organic constituents.
The sculptures are composed of handcrafted components and readymades, all rendering different aspects of a forest; consequently, they create a simulated utopia of things.
Through the process of depicting symbols derived from the realm of the forest, the aim of my degree project is to approach natural landscapes with the intent of highlighting my disconnectedness from nature and natural materials.
Better than nature utforskar artificiella platser och de spekulativa objekt som kan hittas där. Det handlar om den inneboende (o)balansen mellan människa och naturmaterial samt hur vi interagerar med den processade och raffinerade versionen av organiska beståndsdelar.
Skulpturerna är sammansatta av handgjorda komponenter och ready mades, som tillsammans framställer olika aspekter av en skog och på så sätt skapar en simulerad utopi uppbyggd av objekt. Genom processen att avbilda symboler hämtade från skogens värld har målet med detta arbete varit att närma sig naturlandskap med avsikten att lyfta min egen avsaknad av kontakt med naturen och dess material.
