At the programme Interior Architecture and Furniture Design students explore and materialise ideas on how we live together, in societies, cultures and ecosystems. Anchored in Konstfack’s practical workshops and freely working independently of material and digital boundaries, students deal with the situations and dwellings of daily life, like homes, workplaces, educational spaces, public space, the urban and the rural.
Many students enquire how design can enable a sense of belonging, exploring diversity and working cross-disciplinary through methods, techniques and theories, reaching out to philosophy, anthropology, architecture, art and craft.
The students ask questions on how tangible spaces and objects can offer openness, accessibility and participation in regards to different stakeholders. They ponder on the collective, on overlaps, on patterns, on broken links, with an attentiveness to an interconnected world with many different species. Form, matter and materials are being rethought, exploring the gap between endless production and limited fragile natural resources.
This year’s diverse range of topics include: material memories, local production, emotionally charged design, glitches, the tree and the forest, excavations of historical interiors through material storytelling, design driven by care, the act of leaving and coming home, Surrealism updated, classrooms and washhouses, spatial design through sound, speculative future domesticity, experimental site-analyses, interior design approaches cherishing urban ecologies and a public memorial to human intervention in nature.
When combined, these create hope for the future with a new generation of designers striving to remediate critical issues through artistic design practices by being inventors, makers and communicators.

Avgångsstudenterna i Inredningsarkitektur och möbeldesign utforskar och materialiserar idéer om hur vi lever tillsammans, i samhällen, kulturer och ekosystem. Förankrade i Konstfacks praktiska verkstäder och genom ett fritt arbete, oberoende av fysiska och digitala gränser, engagerar sig studenterna i vardagsmiljöer som hem, arbetsplatser, skolor, allmänna platser, i det urbana och det lantliga.
Många studenter undersöker hur design kan väcka en känsla av samhörighet. De arbetar tvärdisciplinärt med metoder, tekniker och teorier och de räcker ut en hand till filosofi, antropologi, arkitektur, konst och hantverk.
Studenterna ställer frågor om hur rum och objekt kan tillgängliggöras och engagera olika intressenter och grupper. De spekulerar över det kollektiva, utforskar överlappningar, mönster, brutna länkar, med uppmärksamheten riktad mot en sammanflätad värld med många olika arter. De omprövar form, materia och material och söker nya förhållningssätt till produktion i en värld av begränsade och sköra naturresurser.
Årets varierade utbud av ämnen omfattar: materialiserade minnen, lokal tillverkning, glitchar, trädet och skogen, design driven av omsorg och mental hälsa, handlingen som det innebär att lämna och att komma hem, uppdaterad surrealism, klassrum och tvättstugor, rumslig gestaltning med ljudlandskap, känslomässigt laddad design, spekulationer om framtida familjeliv, experimentella platsanalyser, inredningsdesign som närmar sig och omhuldar urbana ekologier och ett offentligt minnesmärke över människors ingrepp i naturen.
Tillsammans skapar dessa hopp inför framtiden, då en ny generation formgivare engagerar sig i kritiska frågor genom konstnärliga designprocesser, genom att vara både idégivare, tillverkare och kommunikatörer.
