The basis of my practice is people and their patterns of movement or groupings in relation to constructed structures and objects. I’m fascinated by the cemented perceptions and rules that have developed historically regarding material and function, especially in the matter of ornamentation, how we have gone from an ornate to a stripped-down society, and what that means for us as individuals in the long run.
In N.O.K. I explore how a net with specific qualities can be mounted and relate to a fixed construction and to then function as a resting place, storage, play object or fulfil another function. An exploration of transformative forms and structures in relation to the human body. I combine the “unjustified ornamental”, which in my opinion is so justified by its mere existence, with the raw aesthetics that nets and scaffolding have in the industry.
Ingången till min praktik är människor och deras rörelsemönster eller grupperingar i relation till byggda strukturer och föremål. Jag fascineras av de cementerade uppfattningar och bestämmelser som har uppstått historiskt kring material och funktion, framförallt i frågan om ornamentik. Hur vi har gått från ett smyckat till ett avskalat samhälle och vad det i längden innebär för oss som individer.
I N.O.K. undersöker jag hur ett nät med specifika förutsättningar kan monteras och förhålla sig till en fast konstruktion för att då fungera som viloplats, förvaring, lekobjekt eller uppfylla en annan funktion. Ett utforskande av transformativa former och strukturer i relation till den mänskliga kroppen. Jag sammanför det ”omotiverat ornamentala”, som enligt mig är så motiverat i sin blotta existens, med den råa estetik som nät och byggnadsställningar har inom industrin.
