What are the terms and conditions to enter a space in which empathetic and constructive disagreement can happen? What are the things the two parties must agree on, before they decide to disagree?
A Safe Space for Disagreements is a personal attempt at making sense of the ways in which people communicate in modern times, on both an interpersonal and political level. Through the making of short comics, I try to understand the role that emotions, perceptions, and beliefs play in shaping my own way of connecting and disagreeing with others. Through these stories, I try to sketch out the shape of a space that feels safe enough to have dialogue and disagree.
My degree project is also an exploration on narrative formats and ways of storytelling, and resorts to the webcomic as a way to integrate animation, sound, and interactivity in a visual narrative.
Vilka är villkoren för att träda in på en plats där empatiska och konstruktiva oenigheter kan uppstå? Vad måste två parter komma överens om innan de beslutar sig för att vara oense?
En säker plats för meningsskiljaktigheter är ett personligt försök att förstå hur människor kommunicerar i modern tid, både på ett interpersonellt och politiskt plan. Genom att skapa korta serier försöker jag förstå rollen som känslor, uppfattningar och övertygelser spelar i att skapa mitt eget sätt att komma överens och inte komma överens med andra. Genom dessa historier försöker jag skissera formen för ett utrymme som känns tillräcklig säkert för dialog och oenighet.
Mitt examensprojekt är också ett utforskande av berättande format och sätt att berätta historier på, och tillgriper webbserier som ett sätt att integrera animation, ljud och interaktivitet i en visuell berättelse.
