In this project, I zoom in on the Swedish forest to address global challenges.
This is a story about the tree that turned into a chair. But it’s also about the monsters that lurk in the deep dark woods. When we disrupt an ecosystem, we create them. They thrive in these landscapes. The spruce bark beetle, Ips typographus, is one of these critters that become monstrous in their entanglements with us. Their presence says something about the Swedish forest and about the challenges we face in the Anthropocene.
I det här projektet zoomar jag in på den svenska skogen för att adressera globala utmaningar.
Det här är en berättelse om trädet som blev till en stol. Men också en berättelse om de monster som lurpassar djupt inne i skogen. När vi stör ett ekosystem så skapar vi dem. De frodas i dessa landskap. De är de arter som tar över och blir ett problem i vår nya skapelse. Granbarkborren, Ips typographus, är ett av dessa monster. Dess närvaro säger något om den svenska skogen och om de utmaningar vi möter i antropocen.
