This degree project in spatial design is located under the surface of the ground, in the subsoil layer called the C-horizon. In Bredäng, a district in the south of Stockholm, the subsoil holds memories of human and nonhuman activities where agriculture, demolition masses from the rapid expansion of Stockholm in the 60s, modernist housing ideals and contemporary urban regeneration and development have congregated into archaeological layers. Exposed through excavation this soil raises questions of material and human resources, the labour of maintenance and architecture with the potential to circulate back into the soil.
Through spatial design interventions, this project positions soil as a point of reference to embark on a journey of experimental studies of systems, ecology, and communal participation.
Detta examensarbete i rumslig design ligger under markytan, i det jordlager som kallas C-horisonten. I Bredäng, en stadsdel i södra Stockholm, bär jorden på minnen om mänsklig och icke-mänsklig aktivitet där jordbruk, rivningsmassor från Stockholms snabba expansion på 60-talet, modernistiska bostadsideal och samtida stadsutveckling har samlats i arkeologiska lager. Exponerat genom utgrävningar väcker jorden frågor om materiella och mänskliga resurser, förvaltning, underhåll och arkitektur med potentialen att cirkulera tillbaka ner i marken.
Genom rumslig praktiker placerar detta projekt jord som en referenspunkt för att ge sig ut på en resa av experimentella studier av system, ekologi och kollektivt deltagande.
