Society is changing, and so is how individuals, families and groups are living their lives in homes and cities. An important adjustment process in interior architecture and furniture design is to reframe and plan for a more sustainable future world. This will likely include a reframing of the current economic system. I am looking ahead. The title of my project is 2084: A Home Odyssey and it is a speculative design proposal for how future homes can be designed.
I base the proposal on a future society governed by a different economic logic.
The shapes themselves, the strict triangle, prove to be open to flexibility and mobility. The shapes also stand for new norms and expressions. This takes its starting point in how the way of life for the average person has been produced and directed, and how the home has developed in a historical context from the 1900s through today. I study and develop ideas about flexibility in planning and mobility in shapes and buildings in a design process that speculates on future housing principles.
The proposal is a variant of a housing form that aims to find opportunities for more people to live together and work for a sustainable society. The housing form variant presented in the project can be seen as a future form of collective housing in a collaborative world – in a world that has come to its senses!
Samhället förändras och likaså hur individer, familjer och grupper lever sina liv i hem och stad. En viktig omställningsprocess inom inredningsarkitektur och möbelformgivning är att omformulera och åstadkomma planering för en mer hållbar framtida värld. Rimligen med en omformulering av det nuvarande ekonomiska systemet. Jag blickar framåt, titeln på projektet är 2084: A home odyssey och är ett spekulativt designförslag för hur framtidens boende kan utformas.
Jag utgår från ett framtida samhälle som styrs av en annan ekonomisk logik.
Formerna i sig, den strikta trekanten, visar sig öppna upp för flexibilitet och mobilitet. Formerna står också för nya normer och uttryck. Det tar sin början i hur livsföringen för gemene man har regisserats och hur hemmet utvecklats ur en historisk kontext, från 1900-talet fram till idag. Här studerar och utvecklar jag idéer om flexibilitet i planering och mobilitet, i former och byggnader i en designprocess som spekulerar kring framtida boendeprinciper.
Förslaget är en variant på en boendeform som syftar till att hysa möjligheter för att fler ska kunna bo tillsammans och verka för ett hållbart samhälle. Varianten av projektets bostadsform kan ses som ett framtida kollektivboende i en kollaborativ värld, i en värld som besinnar sig!
