We spend more of our time sitting now than ever before, and this is especially true in many of our professions. This can lead to musculoskeletal disorders because the body is designed for movement. One vulnerable occupational group is dentists and dental care professionals, where the working position during a dental exam or procedure is often demanding. In this project I have, with the help of existing research and collaboration with dentists, focused on developing an ergonomic chair designed for dentists that will help facilitate their work and counteract wear and tear on the body.
The project also describes me and my practice, in which a combination of seating furniture and industrial design are in focus. I am often drawn to furniture or interior design in which a particular function or finesse is allowed to stand out.
Idag sitter vi mer än någonsin och särskilt inom många av våra yrken. Detta kan leda till belastningsbesvär då kroppen är skapad för rörelse. En utsatt yrkesgrupp är tandläkare och arbetande inom tandvården där arbetspositionen ofta är krävande under en undersökning eller ett ingrepp. I detta projekt har jag, med hjälp av befintlig forskning och samarbete med tandläkare, fokuserat på att ta fram en ergonomisk stol ämnad för tandläkare som kommer att underlätta arbetet och motverka förslitningar på kroppen.
Projektet beskriver även mig och min praktik där en kombination av sittmöbel och industridesign står i fokus. Jag drar mig ofta till möbler eller inredning där en viss funktion eller finess får ta plats.
