Through my work I try to reconstitute my relations to what is outside me. I try to get at the things from two directions. As things-in-themselves, inaccessible to our understanding. And as agreements, meaning by what relation the thing has to its surroundings and above all, for us humans, to us humans.
I do not give priority to one of these understandings but rather find it interesting what kinds of different work is needed in order to make such observations. By working through gestaltung I get to interact with the thing-in-itself by unhinging my senses and pre-understandings in the act of creation. By placing a thing I study its constitution by revealing its relation to history, culture and physiology.
I find that a contradictory relation between method and content appears through these different kinds of work. Gestaltung is sensuous and objective. Placing is rational and subjective.
Genom mitt arbete vill jag upprätta nya förhållanden till det utanför mig. Jag närmar mig tingen från två håll. Som orubbliga saker ineslutna i sig själva, otillgängliga för vårt förstående. Och som överenskommelser, alltså vilken relation tinget har till sin omgivning och framförallt, för oss människor, till oss människor.
Jag vill inte ge företräde åt en av dessa förståelser utan finner intressant vilka olika typer arbete som krävs för dessa närmanden. I gestaltande arbete närmar vi oss tinget i sig genom att rubba de egna sinnena och förförståelser i den skapande akten. I placerandet undersöker vi relationen till det historiska, kulturella och fysiologiska som utgör tingets sammansättning.
I de olika formerna av arbete framträder intressanta motsatsförhållanden mellan innehåll och metod. Gestaltandet är sinnligt och objektivt. Placerandet är rationellt och subjektivt.
